MINUTES

Attendance: Vivian Mason (Chairperson), Robert Cimini (Member), Christopher Cozzaglio (Associate Assessor), 

Meeting start: 1:33PM

Approve Minutes from May 17. 

Robert Cimini moves to approve the Minutes from May 17, 2022. Vivian Mason Seconds. 2-0-0 Motion Passes.

New Business

        Discussion of Steps/Time table from certifying free cash to setting a tax rate. 

  • Once free cash is certified, the Town Clerk, Tax Collector/Treasurer, Accountant, and Assessors analyze all the data they have relating to money needing to be collected due to the budget. The Assessors take all this data and relate it with their real estate and personal property data to assess property taxes that are fair and equitable to help the town get the required budget. The assessing department also does yearly reassessments on assessment. Once all the data has been input into an online DOR gateway database, the Selectboard votes on whether it want a single-rate or multi-rate tax rate. Then the DOR certifies the information each department uploaded into the gateway and approves or changes the tax rate. Once this has been done, the assessors create a bill file so that tax collector/treasurer can create and send out bills.

Discussion of Mr. Cimini’s Progress with Assessor Training.

  • Mr. Cimini has completed four modules so far and is about to start the module on Proposition 2 ½.

Accept/Deny Motor Vehicle Abatements as Presented.

  • Robert Cimini moves to approve the MV abatements as presented. Vivian Mason Seconds. 2-0-0 Motion Passes. 

Open Forum

  • Last batch of exemptions will be ready to sign on Thursday. They have all been approved; they were just not put into the financial software.
  • Next meeting- talk about appointments for the open seat.  Both Robert Cimini and Vivian Mason have each heard from one person interested.
