Lake Management Committee

Mission Statement

At the Hinsdale Lake Management Committee, our mission is to aid in the preservation and protection of Lake Ashmere and Plunkett Reservoir from environmental harm on behalf of present and future generations of Hinsdale residents, while respecting the interests of property owners and the public at large. We are motivated by a desire to enhance the water quality of both lakes, while maintaining the natural beauty of our town and its surroundings. We will attend to such matters as: lake water quality, the management of invasive weed species, the drawdown of lake water each fall, as we strive to maintain consistently high Spring and Summer water levels that enhance the enjoyment of the lakes.

The Lake Management Committee will seek funding to finance periodic evaluations of water quality and the overall ecological health of our lakes. Large scale development on or near the lakes will be carefully monitored along with any other issues that have the potential to negatively impact the natural ecology and quality of life on the lakes. 

The Lake Management Committee listens to and responds to all stakeholder concerns, and communicates these to our select board while working closely with all of the relevant local and state agencies (Dept. of Fisheries and Wildlife, DEP, DCR, etc.) 10/13/2020
