The Planning Board operates under the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40A and Chapter 41. The purpose of the Planning Board is to guide the development of the town in the best interests of all its residents. The Board has very specific responsibilities and authorities as granted by Massachusetts General Laws and the Zoning Bylaws of the Town of Hinsdale. Dealing with Zoning Bylaw changes, Subdivision Responsibilities, Site/Design Review, and project planning assistance are all important duties of the Planning Board.


The next Planning Board Meeting regarding Northgate Resort's Special Permit Application will be Monday, August 16, 2021, at the 

Nessacus School Auditorium, 35 Fox Rd, Dalton, MA 01226.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm. This is an open meeting. Public comment is welcome. For more information, click here.

The Hinsdale Planning Board will conduct a public hearing pursuant to MGL 40A, Section 5, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 6:30 pm.  Meeting will be held at Town Hall in the 1st Floor Conference Room.

Purpose of the hearing is to review/consider revisions to the current Marijuana Bylaw that will incorporate latest Cannabis Commission changes/definitions and revise language to strengthen definition of permissible locations for cultivation.  

Complete text of the proposed amended Hinsdale Marijuana Bylaw can be viewed on the town website or is available at the office of the Administrative Assistant at Town Hall, 39 South St., Hinsdale, MA during regular business hours Monday through Thursday (8am to 4pm).

Persons wishing to be heard should appear at the time and place designated. Written comments may be addressed to the Hinsdale Planning Board, 39 South St., Hinsdale, MA 01235.

Northgate Resort

The Planning Board has been asked to review Northgate Resort's Special Permit Application to redevelop what is now known as Camp Emerson.  The Select Board has requested the Planning Board's recommendation on the matter before acting on the Application.  The Planning Board shall, as always, conduct their review openly and per Mass General Law. Meetings and agendas will be posted at least 48 hours in advance, and documents will be posted on this page for all to review.
